First off any seedling you plant should be heavily mulched at least 3 feet from the base of the seedling. A bark mulch is fine. Make sure the mulch is at least 3 inches deep. After applying the mulch, place rocks around the tree covering the mulch. The rocks will warm the surrounding area and trap morning dew.

I am a lead from the USDA Forest Service ASC Green Team. We were hoping to get some trees to plant for Earth Day, is this something you can help with, we have to order them first so is there a list to order from?
We don’t sell trees but the New Mexico forestry department does? Are you in new Mexico?
